- Delhi pollution: Air quality improves marginally, moves to poor category
Air quality in the national capital marginally improved and moved to the 'poor' category on December 12. The System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR) portal of the Ministry of Earth Sciences reported an air quality index (AQI) of 256. SAFAR, in its daily bulletin informed, “From December 15 onwards, air quality is likely to improve due to relatively high wind speeds but within 'poor' or 'lower end of very poor' category”. - Four class 10 students chased and stabbed outside school in Delhi
The students were allegedly chased down and stabbed in East Delhi, leaving them critically injured after they had gone there to appear in the 10th examination. A 35-year-old man, with travel history to Zimbabwe and South Africa, has tested positive for Omicron, becoming the second patient in Delhi of the new COVID-19 variant, govt of Delhi said on Saturday. He is admitted at the LNJP Hospital and only has weakness. He returned to India from Zimbabwe and had even travelled to South Africa, the sources said, adding that he is fully vaccinated. The LNJP Hospital has been designated for treatment of patients infected with the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus.Maharashtra reported seven new cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, including a one-and-a-half-year-old toddler - three from Mumbai and four from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation - taking the tally to 17 in the state. Three men, aged 48, 25 and 37, are returnees from Tanzania, the UK and South Africa, respectively, while the four patients are the contacts of Nigerian women, who was infected with the new variant on December 6. Of the seven, four are asymptomatic while three have mild symptoms. Of these new cases, four are fully vaccinated, one has been administered with a single dose against COVID-19 and one is unvaccinated.
